Wales’ leading post-production company strengthens commitment to sustainability during the pandemic
Wales’ leading post-production company, Gorilla, has strengthened its commitment to sustainability through recently becoming a BAFTA albert affiliate.
BAFTA’s albert programme, established in 2011, aims to bring the screen industries together to tackle environmental impact as well as inspire sustainable living.
Like many sectors, the creative industries carry a large carbon footprint, and this has not changed during the pandemic. Creating media content often requires extensive resources – even for the simplest things such as travelling, eating, and using multiple buildings.
Gorilla is working towards 100% renewable energy at all its locations, having already achieved this at their St. Mary’s Street facility. The post-production company also have ISO 14001 Environmental certification, but Managing Director Rich Moss knows that this is just the beginning.
“Environmental issues seem to have taken a backseat during the pandemic, so it’s important we continue to strive to reduce our footprint as individuals and as an industry.”
Rich Moss, Managing Director, Gorilla Group
The post-production company is also creating new ways of working that will have a positive impact on the industry’s carbon footprint. With help from South Wales’ Clwstwr programme and UKRI, Gorilla recently unveiled a new remote editing toolkit that allows its team to work from wherever they are.
